T-BALL!!

I wanted to sign Talyn up for Fall T-Ball but he missed turning 3 by Sept. 5. However, our friend Jeremy Tomsick is the coach and he gave us a call saying they had an extra spot on their team and to just bring Talyn. I was so excited. All I can say is hillarious!! His first game was so entertaining...I just loved watching him try and figure out the game. Hitting the ball is not a problem for him, although hitting off a T is new because we have been pitching to him since he was 18 months old. However, base running is something we are going to have to work on! Here are a few pics and a video that is worth a thousand words!

Trip to Dallas!

Corey had the opportunity to go to the BYU vs Oklahoma game. His best friend Paul owns Mountain Crane and the company was able to snag several tickets. Corey, Paul, Cody, Jeff and a few others enjoyed a fun and exciting trip to Dallas. They enjoyed a day of golf ane then headed to the game. What an exciting game to be a part of. Thanks Paul!

2009 Summer Activities!!

So I have been a huge slacker with updating our blog. I just want to give a quick overview of what we have been up to this Summer. I have been busy with work at the Fire center but also the last 8 months I have been working on an Indian artifact case with BLM Law enforcement and the FBI. This opportunity has just fueled my passion for law enforcement!

Corey has been running around like a chicken with his head cut off...trying to run his fertilizing company and run the car wash as well. Needles to say he has still found time to golf and play softball!!

Talyn is growing so fast, I can't believe he will be 3 in a couple of weeks. He has such a sweet personality that adds so much to our little family! Don't get me wrong, people don't use the term "terrible two's and three's" for no reason. Set those difficult moments adside I just love watching him discover new things each day, and hearing the silly things he says!

Although we have both been very busy with work, we have still found time to enjoy our Summer some what. Talyn enjoyed his swimming lessons this year and did a great job. We had a blast on our annual friends boating trip. This was our 7the year taking this trip. We missed Andy & Kelly this year! Unfortuantely, we did not use the boat as much this Summer as we would have liked... just to busy. We of course made several trips to St. George for softball tournaments. We love visiting St. George, we have several very close friends that live down there so it is always nice to see them. We were able to enjoy our trailer for a short camping trip. Corey had a great opportunity to go to the BYU vs Oklahoma game!! Thanks to Mountain Crane and his best friend Paul for the trip! Corey and I even found time to do an exercise boot camp. Check out Wasatch Adventure Boot Camp. Our friend Brad Behle is the owner and it is great program. We just enjoyed spending lots of time with our good friends Paul & Courtney, Cody & Angie, and Alex and Stacie. Our kids all have so much fun together. Last but surely not least Corey and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary on August 20th. Wow!! We have grown and learned so much in the last 10 years and look forward to many more years to come.

Sand Dunes

Easter weekend we dediced to head down to the Dunes on Friday for the day. Our good friend Alex was there and just finished his new sand rail. This thing is amazing! 1300 horsepower says it all!! Lindsay and I thought we were just going for a ride over to the face, little did we know we would be flying up the face at 100 mph doing a wheelee most of the way up! I literally thought I was going to crap my pants. What a thrill.

Las Vegas!

Sorry I have not updated for quite some time. There just hasn't been alot to blog about lately. However, this past weekend we ventured down to Vegas for the big Carwash show. Unfortunatly, we were uninformed of the outrageous price of $130 bucks per person to enter the show! We quickly decided to skip the show. Instead we took Talyn to FAO Swartz toy store and many other exciting stores. I had booked us a room at the MGM Grand Hotel. When we checked in, much to our surprise we learned that the Country Music Awards show was being held at the hotel that weekend. We stayed Friday night and checked out Sturday afternoon. As we were leaving I glanced outside from the lobby where everyone waits for valet or Taxi's and noticed an individual...I hit Corey and I said "That is him". Corey agreed. It was the lead singer for Rascal Flatt's, Gary Levox. For those of you who know us, this was extremely ironic because Corey is constantly being told he looks like the lead singer of Rascal Flatt's. He was chased at their concert last year because a group of women thought he was the singer. We walked right up to him and asked if we could have our pictures taken with him. He was the nicest guy. He took pictures with no hesitation. He was playing with Talyn giving him hi fives. It made a great ending to our trip to Vegas!

Superbowl XLIII

For Superbowl Sunday our friend Alex hosted a party at his place. We had a great time mingling with everyone, enjoyed great healthy food thanks to Staci. Courtney was up to her usual creativeness with dessert (check out the pic of the cupcakes). I of course, being the Steelers fan that I am, had a blast wathcing the Steelers win the Superbowl!!!

Christmas Time!!

This Christmas was a whirlwind of events. First we started off with a get together will all my girlfriends from highshcool. It was so fun to see everyone and congratulations to Heidi and Krystal both are expecting in May. Also congrats to Tina who is scheduled to adopt around May as well.
Next was Christmas day. We certainly had a white Christmas with over a foot of snow. Corey and I were so excited to see Talyn's reaction this year. Even though he doesn't understand the whole Santa Clause thing, he had a blast opening presents and it was just as thrilling for Corey and I to watch. Corey's parents gave the entire family a night stay at the Homestead so we headed up there the day after Christmas. We had a great dinner in Midway and spent the night sledding and playing Guitar Hero World Tour. Following our adventure to the Homestead Corey, myself, Lindsay, Sage and Todd boarded a plane for Chicago to attend the Green Bay Packers game on Sunday. More of these pics to come soon.

I can't believe it is that time of year again. Many of you know for the last few years for their birthdays, Corey & Paul have rented a skybox at a Jazz game and invite some of their closest friends. It is always so fun to get together and spend time with friends, eat dinner, and enjoy a Jazz game. This year we were missing our friends Taylor & Teigan...they are living it up in Nebraska while Taylor finishes law school. Thanks again for a fabulous night and Happy Birthday to Paul & Corey!

Welcome to Seattle!

For my 30th birthday my gift was a trip to Seattle to go whale watching. I was so excited, this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. We decided to go a day earlier so we could get in some sight seeing other than whales. When we arrived they were having flash flooding problems...welcome to Seattle! The next few days were hit and miss with rain.
We had such a great time looking out over Seattle from the Space Needle and walking through Pikes place market...although the fish smell was a bit ovewhelming! Next we decided to take a tour of Qwest Field, where the Seattle Seahawks play. There were only 6 people in our tour so we were able to go places they don't normally take you. Best of all they let us run all over the field. Corey has a cousin that lives near Seattle so Friday night we met up with his family and went to dinner. Saturday was our whale watching trip. The day started off rainy but by the time the boat took off it had cleared. We spent the entire day on the boat. We had excitement right off by saving a diver that had gone missing. However, much to everyone's dismay we didn't see one whale! I was so disappointed but they did give us a free voucher to come back again. Sunday before we flew out we took a tour of Safco field, where the Mariner's baseball team plays. Thank you so much for the fabulous birthday gift, I had such a wonderful time even though we didn't see any whales! I guess we will just have to plan another trip since we have a free voucher!

Monday Night Football!

Thanks to our good friend Paul Belcher, Corey had a boys couple days out. Corey and 3 of his good friends; Paul, Cody, & Jeff flew to Arizona Monday afternoon. They enjoyed a great dinner and then headed to the stadium. That's right, they went to the Monday night football game: Arizona vs. 49er's. Not only did they go to the game they were on the 50 yard line, 12 row! Yeah, they suck!! The next morning they played 18 holes of golf on a tournament course there in Phoenix. As jealous as I am, I'm glad they had a great time and got to experience the excitement of Monday night football, live! Mostly, thanks again to Paul you are truely a great friend!

Halloween

Halloween was so fun this year. We dressed Talyn up as a Skunk...and yes his butt did say "Lil Stinker". It was so exciting just seeing the joy on Talyn's face as he knocked on the doors. The best part was the very first house he went to, the neighbors had him come just inside the door to pick out candy. Every door after that, the minute the door opened Talyn would try to go inside!

I can't believe it is basketball season already. We are so excited for this year. A couple of years ago we decided to purchase season tickets. Of course the games wouldn't be the same without our best pals Paul & Courtney, so they purchased tickets next to us. Each year during the pre-season we venture and take the kids. I thought they actually did really good at the first game but I think we will leave bringing the kids to the pre-season and leave the rest of the season to just the parents!

Gator Wash

It is official, Gator Wash is NOW OPEN!! This has been a long time coming and we are so excited that it is finally open and operating. For those of you who are not familiar with Gator Wash let me enlighten you. Gator Wash is an express tunnel car wash. Talyn turned 2 on October 2nd. He is obsessed with "Horsee's" so we decided to rent a couple of ponies for his birthday. We had a barnyard theme party and invited several of his little buddies. The kids had such a blast taking turns riding the ponies, swinging at the Horse Piñata, eating pizza, and enjoying giant cupcakes. I can't believe he is 2 years old already, it is amazing how quickly time goes by. The best part of the party for me was seeing the pure joy and excitement on Talyn's face...there is nothing better than that!

On the 22nd I turned 30. I can not believe I am that old!! Everyone says the thirties are the new twenties...I guess I will find out. My wonderful husband went completely out of the norm and threw me a surprise party. I love Corey dearly but he is not the best at keeping surprises. However, I must say that this was a surprise, completely unexpected. He made such an effort especially being gone to Phoenix the weekend before for a World Softball tournament. I was so impressed at all the arrangments and detail he put into it, even down to my favorite cake...red velvet! Thanks to Courtney for hosting it at her house. She did such a great job with all the decorations and set up. I had such a wonderful time as did the kids, the food was delicious, and the company was great.
A funny note, if you add up all the kids there, we had 13 boys and 1 baby girl. I wish we could have gotten a picture with all the kids(9) and babies(5), but you know that is just one daunting task!

It Happened Again!!

Most of you know back in November Talyn fell & hit his tooth knocking it back up into his gums. Fortunately, the tooth came back down on its own and is fine. Well, on Tuesday Talyn was playing on a playground. He fell and hit his face. When I got to him, blood was pouring from his mouth and nose. We rushed him to his pediatric dentist. Unfortunately, they had to pull his tooth. So now he will be toothless until his permanent tooth comes in! How do you knock 2 teeth out in less than a year!!

State Fair 2008

Every year since I can remember my mom and I have gone to the State Fair. We have carried on that tradition with Talyn. Talyn loved the fair because of all the "horsee's", the "mooo's", the "baaah's", & all the other animals. Of course he enjoyed riding the pony! The fair has definately changed over the years but I hope it is a tradition we continue with for years to come.

2008 WJ Alumni Basketball Tourney!

For the past several years West Jordan Highschool has put on an alumni basketball tournament for a fundraiser. Since Corey played highschool ball he goes back and plays in the tournament. It is always fun to see familiar faces from school that you don't see but once a year at the tournament. This year his team had to scrap together a team because several of their usual players weren't able to play. they picked up a few guys that graduated their year but didn't play basketball.

Bow Hunt 2008

This year for the Bow Hunt we were invited to join the Springer, Osterander, Posh group. The area we camped in was beautiful. We had such a great time camping and riding the 4 wheelers on all the different trails. Fortunately, no one got a deer while we were there...I am all about the camping but not about the killing! Talyn had a blast playing with Andy's boys Hayden & Cole. Maybe next year we can get Kelly to venture out! We had such a great time we can't wait until next year!

On Friday I got together with a couple of my girlfriends Aubrey & Annie. We all cheered together at UVSC. Aubrey moved back to Utah after being in Texas and Arizona the last few years. Today Corey and I are celebrating our 9 year anniversary! Wow, how time flies. I am so blessed to have Corey in my life. He is such a great husband and dad. Swimming!

We put Talyn in swimming lessons when he was 18 months old with his friend Kyan. These were just at a recreation center and basically just got hime used to the pool. A couple months later (20 months)we entered Talyn in more intense swimming lessons. He has 15 minute private lessons 2-3 times a week. I can not believe the improvement in his swimming. It is a fairly expensive program but I feel completely worth the money. We are around water all the time with the boat & I want him to be able to have some life saving skills. If you haven't seen baby survival swimming video, please check it out. The link is under my Favorite Websites. Talyn is in a very similar program. Some people say it is to young to have them in lessons...I feel the sooner they learn the better!

Olympics, Olympics, Olympics!

Okay, I must say I am quite obsessed with the Olympics. I am completely sleep deprived because I watch them until the early am hours! What is a little sacrifice of sleep when the Olympics only come around every 4 years. For those of you who are not on board the Olympic train currently, I encourage you to do so. There isn't any better reality TV than this. There have been so many amazing moments already and it has only been 4 days. For example the mens gymnastics team taking the bronze medal last night...no one expected them to even come close to medaling. Micheal Phelps race for 8 gold medals, 3 down 5 to go! Can you say relay, relay, relay!! If you missed it, go online and watch the mens 4x100m free relay...amazing!!

Summer BBQ

My girlfriend Aly moved back from Kentucky after 4 years. Her husband Shawn graduated from Dental school and started practicing here in Utah. We decided to have a get together with several of us girls that cheered together in highschool to welcome her back. It was so fun to see everyone together. It is something we need to do more often. We sure did miss Krystal and Tina. Thanks to Jason & Heidi for opening their home to us.

Trip to Loa

This past weekend we took a trip with my mom & Greg down to his property in Loa. We took all the 4 wheelers and did about a 50 mile (round trip) ride to Rim Lake. There wasn't another sole during the entire ride. It was so beatiful and peaceful. It was a little cooler than expected. Fortunately, Greg had packed a few warm clothes so we distrupted them among us...okay mostly me because I am a wimp and always cold! Talyn loves the 4 wheelers he just rode along with Corey the entire time. Besides the 4 wheelers he also loved that there were horses that boardered the property. Everyday he would get on his 4 wheeler and ride over to where they were, the whole time calling "horsey's, horsey's". Got to love those moments!

July 24th Weekend

Our 24th of July weekend was jam packed of things to do. On the 24th we took the boat to Deer Creek Reservoir. Cody, Angie, & Kyan joined us. We also met our friend Rocky up there. We enjoyed relaxing on the lake, wakeboarding, & tubing.

Friday we went to the Bee's game and our friends Cody & Angie joined us again. Cody & Ang were trying to get in as many activities as they could before baby number 2 came...baby Kruz came on Sunday! We all had such a good time. The Bee's won 14-3 and the fireworks after the game were great.

One last thing...on Saturday I took Talyn to Gardner Village for his second favorite thing "horsey's"!! I am not sure which he likes more "horsey's" or basball. He is constantly asking to play ball or to go see the "horsey's".

July 4th Weekend

For the holiday weekend we stayed thursday night in Park City at the Canyon's with Corey's family. We enjoyed a concert and fireworks in our hotel plaza that night. The next day we pulled our trailer up to the Belchers property in Heber and had an enjoyable weekend with our friends the Belchers and the Burghardts riding 4 wheelers, making smores and relaxing by the creek.

For the last 7 years we have gone on a friends boating trip. Over the years we have gone to Lake Powell, Lake Mead and this year we went to Sand Hollow. It is always fun to get together with everyone and just chill and relax. The group this year included: The Springer clan, Bowcutt's, Benson's, Behle's, Sawyer's, Belcher's, Burghardts, and the Hennefer family.

Grandpa 90th Birthday!

On May 18th we celebrated my grandpa's 90th birthday. We celebrated with his friends and family. My uncle & his family even flew in from Iowa to surprise him. My grandpa is just amazing he just keeps going and going like the energizer bunny. He is so full of life, you would never know he is 90 years old. I am so thankful that Talyn has had the opportunity to meet his great grandpa...not a lot of people get to experience that.

In April we went to Florida with my mom & Greg. We were there for 5 days then Corey, Talyn, & Greg flew home. My mom and I stayed and drove up to Georgia for the NCAA gymnastics championships. This was our 7th time traveling to the championships. We all had such a blast. In Florida we hit a number of parks: Seaworld, Magic kingdom, Animal kingdom, Kennedy Space Center. It is so fun to see the joy & excitement on your childs face when they experience something for the first time. We can't wait to go back!!

Courtney and I decided to take Logan & Talyn to the city Easter egg hunt...little did we know that even though we showed up 5 minutes early, the egg hunt was over and everyone was leaving. We were so disappointed. Fortunately, Talyn isn't quite old enough to understand the whole Easter egg hunt thing. We made the best of the situation and let them go through the Fire truck and Ambulance they had set up there. Then I took Talyn to a park to play on the swing.

Talyn's 16 Month Photos

On February 1st we took Talyn to Kiddie Kandids for the first time to get his 16 month photos done. Yes, I am a slacker and haven't had his pictures done since he was 8 months old. Good thing I have a personal camera that I have been taking pictures with. Just so you know Talyn is not posed in any of the pictures. They shot the picture of him on the later as he was climbing up it. The picture of him on the chair in the brown...he climbed on the chair and sat down that way.

Superbowl Sunday

I thought it was a pretty boring game until the 4th quarter...and the commercials weren't all that great. I actually didn't real care who won since my Pittsburg Steelers weren't there!!

Past 2 Months Activities!

Here is our family Christmas photo along with some pics from Christmas morning. Talyn was so excited about his 4 wheeler. He climbed on, pushed the button and off he went. The only problem is he doens't understand how to turn it yet. He just goes until he runs into a wall then he yells until one of us turns him around!

On January 10 the demolition began on the West Jordan Car Wash. The entire wash was torn down and leveled to dirt in just a few hours. Watch for the new Gator Tunnel Wash coming Spring of 2008.

On February 3 there was a huge snow storm. We received 18" of snow in Herriman. Talyn wanted to help dad plow the snow on the big 4 wheeler.

I found this video of Talyn when he was about 81/2 months old. I had just sucked his nose with the nose sucker and I just about gagged. Talyn thought it was the funniest sound ever...I kept making the gag sound and he would just giggle. He has the best belly laugh!

I have been tagged several times so I thought I would get started. Here is one of a few I have been tagged with.

*How long have you been together? 12 years...But we had several off and on moments. We have been married for just over 8 years now.

*How old is he? Just turned 31!

*Who eats more? Usually Corey, unless it is pizza than I surely eat more. (Pizza is a weakness of mine)

*Who said I love you first? Definitely Corey. It took me awhile to pull that out of the hat.

*Who is taller? Corey. He has me by about 10 inches

*Who sings better? That is a toss up. Neither of us sing very loud. I think it is because we both know we aren't very good.

*Who is smarter? Depends on the subject.

*Who does the laundry? That would be me. Corey's idea of laundry is wash one shirt at a time or throw all different colors in at the same time.

*Who does the dishes? We split this task.

*Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do unless we are staying somewhere else and the right side of the bed is closer to the door than I sleep on the left side. I like being the furthest from the door.

*Who pays the bills? We split this task as well. I do for the most part but he pays a couple. Although, I am constantly reminding him, "don't forget you need to pay those bills".

*Who mows the lawn? Corey. He claims I would never mow the lawn, but he forgets I grew up mowing the lawn. Besides, he never gives me a chance to...he is obsessed with mowing the lawn. I swear he mows every other day.

*Who cooks dinner? Rolayne, my mom, Angie, Wingers, Guads! Niether of us are real big cooks but I will cook. I can count on one hand how many times Corey has cooked in 8 years.

*Who drives when you are together? Corey almost always does. He will tell you I drive but that I drive from the passenger seat.

*Who is more stubborn? That is definitely me, no questions asked.

*Who kissed who first? Which go around? Actually that doesn't matter, he did all three times.

*Who asked who out? High school - Corey/Paul Belcher (long story). College & after his mission- Corey. The 3rd go around is questionable. I called him after not talking for about 4 months to tell him I was moving and to say goodbye and he called me back the next day to go to dinner.

*Who proposed? Corey. I can say it wasn't the most romantic proposal but for those who know the story it was truly perfect for Corey & I.

*Who is more sensitive? I can say without a doubt Corey. He is so kind hearted he never wants to upset or offend anyone. He is always trying to make everyone happy. I think my stubbornness gets in the way of my sensitivity sometimes. Obviously it depends on the situation. Now, when it comes to animals I am extremely sensitive.

*Who has more friends? We both have a lot of the same friends since we went to school together. We also have friends that we have made through the years separate and together.

*Who has more siblings? Corey has me beat in this department. He has an older brother & sister and a younger sister. I am an only child.

*Who wears the pants in the family? I would probably have to say I do and I think most people would probably agree. Again it comes down to the fact that Corey is just much more laid back than I am, he doesn't stress about the little things!

Cookie Cutters

We took Talyn in for his second haircut about a week ago. The place we go to is called Cookie Cutters. It is great. All the chairs are different kinds of cars. They have screens in front of each chair that plays a movie if you would like. There are many things to keep the kids distracted from the person cutting their hair. This time we went for a shorter, more spiked look rather than the shag he has always had. I can't believe how much older it makes him look.

Talyn, grandma & I all went to the Festival of Trees last Wed. It is a tradition my mom & I have been doing since I can remember. It was so much fun to be able to take Talyn this year. He had a great time looking at all the trees. He just pointed and said "ooh ooh" the entire time.

Playing Catch Up!

I can't seem to stay caught up with this blog. So here we go again playing catch up.

First of all, we had our first emergency a few weeks ago with Talyn. He was walking by our bed, fell and hit his face on our bed rail. He came up screaming blood flowing out of his mouth. We looked and he had a big gapping hole where he had a tooth. He hit his tooth so hard when he fell it pushed his tooth all the way back up into his gum. After a few panicked moments we were able to get hold of a pediatric dentist that lives up the street. He took a look and said 90% chance the tooth will come back down and be just fine. Now it is just a waiting game to see if the tooth comes back down. All I can say is it is amazing how resilient kids are...a little Motrin that night and he has been fine since.

Thanksgiving has come and gone. What a wonderful time to get together with family and friends and remember all the things that we are thankful for. This year we had a Thanksgiving breakfast at Corey's moms house. Our friends Cody and Ang & Talyn's buddy Kyan joined us before they headed to their Thanksgiving dinner with family. We then went to my moms house for Thanksgiving dinner. This actually worked out really great. Our food from breakfast had time to settle just in time to stuff ourselves some more with a wonderful traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings!

On November 30 we had our annual B&B (Bruse & Belcher) birthday bash! Corey and Paul celebrate their birthdays together by renting out a skybox for a Jazz game. This year we celebrated their birthdays with many close friends, enjoyed a catered dinner & watched the Jazz destroy the Lakers!!

Figuring this Blog thing out!

It has been over 2 months since I created this blog and I haven't touched it since its initial creation. So I am trying to catch up...besides the fact I don't know what I am doing!

A lot has happened in the past 2 months. Talyn turned 1! I can't believe he is a year old. Time sure does fly! He had his first birthday cake and really enjoyed it!

We visited a local pumkin patch and Talyn had a blast picking out pumkins with his buddy Logan.

Halloween has also come and gone. Talyn had a good time trick-or-treating visiting the grandparents homes and a few friends. He was dressed up as a ferocious lion! We entered him in a Halloween costume contest at 971zht. You can vote for him at http://www.971zht.com/pages/halloween/cuties/ He is #28. Voting starts on Nov. 6th.

One last thing to catch up on... we went 4 wheeling a couple of weeks ago. We stayed on Greg's property in Loa (by Richfield). We pulled our 5th wheel and my mom and Greg pulled the 4 wheelers. We went on a trail to Donkey Lake. Talyn rode in the baby bjorn strapped to dad.

So we have decided to try and catch up with the times! We are new to this new wave of Blogging. It may take us awhile to catch onto how the whole thing works. Hopefully we will make our blog more interesting in the future.
